Eminem sketch

Earlier today I did an Eminem sketch that blew chunks . . . it was supposed to be a warm up to get me in the groove for the rest of the day. Unfortunately it didn't turn out that way, and it haunted me all day. I had to have another go at it before going home for the day, so here's sketch #2. This one took maybe 20 minutes or so?

Quick thumbnail . . . just getting the basics down.

crazy as it seems to me.. I have been struggling with likeness so out of desperation I decided to try your 60 sec sketch idea and was blown away. I guess the time made me focus and really just draw the essential elements to the likeness and immediately my drawings got better. So now I limit myself initially to 60 seconds or so to get the likeness and then from there refine to get a more finished drawing.

Thanks for the inspiration!! I guess the biggest thing to learn is to loosen up and draw more freely.

It's awesome how you chose yellow for your midtone background! I believe that it actually increases the likeness! Awesome!
